CFA's Second Best Siamese and Best Lilac Point 2011-12
Great Lakes Region's 10th Best Cat

Qu-Joh was the standout kitten in the first litter sired by our national winner Thaifong Rio of Ayuthaya. Her dam was GC, RW Thaifong Raisa of Ayuthaya, one of my all time favorite cats. We had done the breeding in the hopes of producing something nice to send to another breeder as a kitten back and initially were thrilled to see such a pretty baby girl. But as she matured I came to realize that she did not like me, or people in general. She would sit and glare at me in defiance, daring me to touch her. Not what I expected out of her two sweet, laid back parents! I did not want to burden anyone with such challenging personality so she became my “project.” I had been calling her Cujo after the ferocious dog in the Stephen King novel so when it came time to register her, I did a play on the spelling and she became Qu-Joh.

Initially, we had no plans to show the little project kitty although she was coming around slowly at home. I isolated her in my bedroom and she would sneak up on the bed to curl up with me when she thought I was asleep. When we decided to try to DM her dam we threw caution to the winds and entered Cujo in a local show. Although she was scared to death at that show and howled like a banshee in every ring, she warmed up to showing quite quickly. After a couple of shows she was sitting at the front of the judging cage trolling for toys as the judge walked by. Before we knew it, she was playing on the table and going up the sisal poles.

Qu-Joh granded in two shows at the end of the 2010-11 show season. We took her out in the new season and she did very well, black lining two of her first four shows. Then life interfered and I had to take a break from showing. Cujo was out of the ring for three months. When we brought her back out at the end of October we were pleasantly surprised that she remembered the routine and showed well.

Despite our on again off again show schedule and some tough competition in breed she stayed second best Siamese throughout most of the show season. She only hit 100 rings in April and never replaced all her rings from breed points.

Cujo is a refined girl with a tight, hard body and a silky white painted on coat. Her large, expressive deep blue eyes give her a look that is more sweet than extreme. She reminds me of her mother and I am proud that she followed in her footsteps to achieve the best of color win.

Raisa did get her DM when a young neuter named Razor from a subsequent litter granded in April. It was a great way to end the show season.
